If you are looking for somthing to do some trails and just want to soften th ride a little bit you can get a bike with only front suspension these are know as "hardtails". A hardtail can run from $300-$2,500. just keep in mind the more you spend the better components and better ride you will have. Look around at your local bike shops to check out the prices. The picture to the left is a Garry Fisher Big Sur it is light weight a verry good competitive bike but im not sure how much it is?

A Full Suspension K2 (not the 3000)

If you want to get a new bike and don't know if you want Full suspension or just front. i prefer full because its smoother and you can get better tractoin around corners because your tires stay to the ground. For a pretty decent Full Suspension runs from any where between $900-5,000. The more you spend the better the bike and components you will get. I suggest a (K2 proflex 3000) it has good components and a nice ride for around 1,100 for a 1998.
